Healthier Holidays is open for enrollment!

Healthier Holidays Starts December 6!

Well, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, and I feel like I’ve already overdone it.

I decided to bake some (healthy-ish) chocolate mini-cupcakes with my son this weekend, and then I remembered — oh yeah, that whole will power thing.

Turns out I still don't have much will power to resist baked goods that are just sitting around the house. For me, it's much easier to keep a clean kitchen, and then enjoy treats when away from home. Like most people, I'm much more virtuous around others, and especially in public 😉

Why am I telling you all this?

I'll admit it might seem strange hearing this from someone who runs online cleanses and healthy lifestyle workshops for a living.

Here's why — nobody's perfect. Especially during the holidays. I don't even try to be perfect, because:

A) I'm a realist.

B) I know that trying to follow the perfect diet every day and at every hour can be zero fun. And I'm a big believer in fun.
So here's what I do to maintain some balance: during the week, I try to eat and drink as clean as I can: lots of smoothies, salads, soup — and, ideally, no alcohol or sugar.

Then, when I have a social or holiday function to attend, I focus on eating clean and working out early in the day, so I can enjoy some indulgences later.

I like to think of these clean days as a mini-detox. Here's what it looks like:

  • Breakfast: Ginger Pear Smoothie.
  • Morning: Show up for my workout.
  • Lunch: Huge kale salad with chopped apple, and my Spicy Seed Mix.
  • Late Afternoon: Some cinnamon tea and maybe some fruit or veggies if I’m hungry.
  • Dinner: Spicy Coconut Ginger Soup, and a green salad.
  • No: wine, martinis, IPAs, leftover Halloween candy… or mini-cupcakes.

See how it works? Maybe you'll find this example of a part-time detox plan helpful as the holidays draw near. Please feel free to utilize the plan and the Healthier Holidays Recipe Sampler pack (download below) whenever you feel the need to clean up your act a little. Or a lot.

This flexible, part-time cleanse is for anyone who wants to maintain more balance this holiday season. It's perfect if…

●  You want to practice more “moderation” this year — instead of being a total train wreck.

●  You like living “clean” for the most part, but want to learn how to “party smarter” while at holiday gatherings.

●  You'd like to be less crazed and stressed this holiday season.

●  You want to feel good in your party outfits, instead of feeling like you need to pull out the yoga pants.

●  You want to be part of a ripple effect that makes living a healthier holiday season easier — and socially acceptable — for everyone in years to come.
